HI! I'm Russell Royer
With over 15 years in dance and choreography – from the West End to Westminster Hall – I have been immersed in performances, events, costumes and collaboration, gaining a deep understanding of how spaces can inspire and engage. This experience informs my architectural practice and teaching, where I focus on the experience of designing spaces and objects, not just their final form.

A bit more about me.
My interest in architecture grew out of my love for the stage. My career as a costume designer for performances like “Groove on Down the Road” and "Into the Hoods", alongside working on major architecture projects, has honed my ability to visualise and design across a wide spectrum. From the Peacock Theatre to various youth engagement projects as the Creative Director for Curious People, I've cultivated an eye for detail and an understanding of how design affects interaction.
I also focus on learning and exploring new design software, from SketchUp and AutoCAD to Rhino and Microstation, and have used these tools to create everything from topographic models for Zaha Hadid Architects to detailed Vectorworks layouts for IDR Associates. This constant exploration ensures that my work is always evolving and responsive to new challenges.

Why Design Services and Training?
Through both teaching and studio experience, I’ve seen how knowledge gaps can affect confidence and creativity – not because people lack talent, but because they haven’t had access to the right tools or support.
I’ve also been in that position myself: arriving in a new studio, expected to get up to speed quickly on unfamiliar software or workflows. It can be disorienting and frustrating, especially when expectations are high but guidance is limited.
That’s why I offer support for individuals and teams who are looking to strengthen their skills – whether that’s learning industry-standard software, adapting to new workflows, or simply feeling more confident in the tools they already use. My approach is flexible and tailored to the needs of the team or individual, with a focus on practical learning that’s relevant to real project work.
It’s not about ticking boxes – it’s about giving people the clarity and confidence they need to do their best work.
